It is hard to believe that August is here already! But alas, some of these North Dakota days are showing it… the fields of blooming sunflowers are bending toward the light of the intense sun and the zucchinis are starting to come in by the bushel. We have been warned by our neighbors that if we don’t want a car full of mysteriously delivered produce, we should lock our doors. Ha! Somehow, that doesn’t seem like a problem to me at all...
These last several months have been delightfully full with several “Paint Your Heart Out” events! I, now, not only have a wall in my house designated for these event pieces, but I have also met some wonderful people along the way; each with a courageous willingness to paint, and play, and connect with themselves in an intentional and healing way. There have been beautiful moments of the Spirit at work… pausing us, challenging us, and surprising us into a new way of being (even if just for an evening). I am joyfully humbled by this creative process as practice as it infiltrates our busy, messy, and sometimes chaotic lives and shows us another way… a way of peace… a way of wholeness… a way of presence and awareness… a way of freedom into the abundant life that God calls us each into.
It is enough to say that I leave these times feeling truly grateful.
